Democracy International (DI) is a US-based organization operating in over 40 countries, that advises and assists, on behalf of governments, ministries and NGOs in democracy and governance projects, such as in the conduct of elections, election monitoring and building of multi-party systems. It works in four core practice areas: Politics, Governance, Peace & Resilience, and Learning.
In Bangladesh, since 2011, Democracy International has been implementing the Democratic Participation and Reform Program (DPR), a USAID and DFID-funded political party development program designed to (1) enhance grassroots participation, with a focus on women and youth, (2) improve the parties’ access to and use of information, and (3) improve the environment for responsive politics.
Democracy International (DI) conducted a 1.5-year long media research project on the country’s political sector with Tracker. The project was a unique and first of its kind in the country, which aimed to find out how political parties and personalities in Bangladesh are portrayed in the media. The project has been completed successfully recently.
